Grinch Cookies

Gather the ingredients - * Butter * Green gel food coloring * Sugar * Egg yolk * Vanilla extract * Flour * Baking powder * Candy hearts

– Add the softened butter and green food coloring to the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment. – Beat on medium speed until the butter has turned green.

– Add the sugar, egg yolk, and vanilla.  Mix to combine. – Add the flour and baking powder.  Mix just until combine.

Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface and cut out 2" circles.   Place them on a parchment lined baking sheet and freeze for 1 hour.

– Bake the cookies for 13-15 minutes. – Remove  the cookies from the oven and immediately place a candy heart in the  center of each one.  Press the candy heart gently into the cookie until  it sticks.

– Allow the cookies to cool on a baking sheet until they are room temperature. – Store any leftover cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days.
