Chocolate Waffles

Gather the ingredients - * Flour * Cocoa powder * Milk * Sugar * Baking powder * Vanilla extract * Chocolate chips

– Preheat the waffle maker according to manufacturer's instructions. – Combine the flour, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, and baking powder in a large bowl. – In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and vanilla until combined. – Add the wet ingredients to the dry and mix just until no large lumps remain.

Add the chocolate chips, if using, and fold them into the batter.

Grease the preheated waffle iron with non-stick cooking spray and add  the batter to the waffle iron.  I added about 1 cup of batter for each  waffle.

– Cook for 3-4 minutes, or until the waffle is crisp around the edges and fully cooked in the center. – Repeath  steps 6 and 7 until all the waffles are made.  You can keep the cooked  waffles warm in a 250 degree F oven for up to 30 minutes while you make  the rest. – Serve warm, garnished with  toppings of your choice.  Store any leftover waffles in an airtight  container in the fridge for up to two days.
