How to Edit Photos on Samsung Galaxy S9+ – A quick and easy guide to taking the best photos possible and editing them by taking advantage of all of the new features on the Samsung Galaxy S9+.

I am a Samsung fan to the core! Since the Samsung Galaxy S4, I have been faithfully waiting for each new iteration of the line to come out and see what fun new updates and changes they make to the phones.  When I first heard about the Samsung Galaxy S9+, I knew I just had to check it out.  The camera has had a massive overhaul and now has a dual aperture lens which helps make even low light images look phenomenal along with live translations.  Yes, it can translate in real-time which is incredibly helpful if you are a traveler like I am! Additionally, intelligent scan allows you to unlock your phone with just a scan, no more unlocking with a password (unless you want to, of course).  The feature I have had the most fun with has definitely been the AR emoji which let you create augmented reality version of yourself with just a selfie that you can turn into stickers and videos.  It is seriously SO much fun to mess with!

In addition to the camera, I had a really tough time choosing which color to go with because they were all so nice looking! I finally picked out the coral blue after much deliberation! To get my new phone, I popped over to Costco and went over to their Wireless Center.  The staff was super helpful getting everything and I walked out with a phone I was so excited to use! This is a huge overhaul, especially if you are coming from a Galaxy S6 or S7.  The infinity-edge screen that reaches from edge-to-edge along with the fact it is waterproof really adds to how great the phone is!

So now here is the fun part – the guide on taking and editing pictures on the Samsung Galaxy S9+.

AR Emoji

Yes, you can make emojis of yourself to send to your friends and family! To make the best possible AR Emoji, make sure you take your glasses off and pull your hair back! You can turn these into stickers to send friends which is so much fun!

Super Slow-Mo

This phone can take videos that are shot at 960 frames per second so you can shoot a video that is high quality and really slow.  Make sure you get what you plan on taking the super slow-mo of inside the yellow box on screen and then film! Once you finish up, you can edit it down to the length you want.  A really cool way to use it is to show something really fast like a waterfall, it really has such an awesome effect!

Low Light

Now taking pictures at low light can be such a pain most times.  Either you can’t tell what is in the image because it is too dark or everything ends up out of focus.  This image was taken well into dusk when the lighting was pretty terrible, yet it turned out bright and clear! To take the best low light shots possible, make sure to tap the screen to focus the camera on what you want to take the picture of, hold the phone steady, and then snap!

Panorama

Panoramas are one of my favorite ways to take a picture, especially out in nature.  You can get so much of the world around you into one image! To get the best panorama shot, keep very still and slowly move your phone in the direction you want to take the panorama in.  Keeping the phone nice and steady does wonders!

Food

Taking photos of great meals is a must! To show off your food pictures, there is a mode you can use that is specifically for food! It focuses on the center of the image where the food is and blurs the background.  If you want to set up your food photography skills, this mode is a must! To take the ultimate picture of food, just move your camera to the food is right in the middle within the circle and snap that picture! It’s so quick and easy!

Wide Selfie

So have you ever tried to take a selfie with a whole bunch of people where everyone is trying to squish into fit? Well never fear, there is a wide selfie mode! This allows you to basically take a panorama using the front facing camera so you can fit everyone in or get a bunch of beautiful scenery into the background! Pro tip, to get the best possible wide selfie, make sure everyone stays pretty still so that there isn’t any blurring or anything!

Filters and Stickers

Now these are fun ways to jazz up your picture after you take it.  One you have a picture, open up the tool in editing with three overlapping circles which has filters.  Click on the one that makes your image look the best (I chose the “maple” filter for the image below) and save it! It is a fantastic way to make a picture really pop! The other thing you can add to the image is stickers! You can move around the stickers and put them anywhere on the image and change the size.  My favorite stickers are the flowers, they are so pretty!

Now I’m regretting giving up my Samsung. I’m going to reconsider because I don remember that Samsung’s phone camera was excellent and it just got even better! Gorgeous nature shots!
