Cranberry Goat Cheese Ball

Cranberry Goat Cheese Ball – A quick and easy appetizer perfect for the holidays! Cranberry cinnamon goat cheese and cream cheese topped with dried cranberries and nuts!

If you are looking for an impressive appetizer to make this holiday season, then you have come to the right place! This cranberry goat cheese ball is an incredible appetizer filled with so much flavor.  Something that I love about it is it is a lighter spin on a classic cheese ball since it is made with goats cheese and I used neufchatel cheese instead of cream cheese to cut down on the fat a bit (although cream cheese works just as well in the recipe so you are welcome to use that).

The secret ingredient that really made this recipe incredible was Montchevre! I didn’t just use plain goat cheese, I used their incredible Montchevre Cranberry Cinnamon Goat Cheese Log! This stuff is seriously AMAZING! There are so many different things you can make with it from desserts to appetizers.  Montchevre Goat Cheese is made from fresh, high quality goat milk sourced from local family farms and it’s jam-packed with protein, vitamin D, calcium, and less lactose.  It’s the perfect addition to any healthy lifestyle and it can be substituted into any recipe calling for cheese.  Traditional French cheese-making techniques go into making each of their logs along with their mild, fresh taste.

Step 1 – Make cheese ball

Beat together Montchevre Cranberry Cinnamon Goat Cheese Log and the cream cheese (or neufchatel cheese) until well combined. Transfer to a piece of plastic wrap and form into the shape of a ball. Place in refrigerator for at least 1-2 hours or until it is cool.

Step 2 – Make coating

Mix together dried cranberries, pecans, and walnuts in a bowl big enough for the cheese ball.  If you want to take the coating to the next level, substitute in candied pecans or walnuts!

Step 3 – Cover cheese ball

Remove the cheese ball from the plastic wrap and roll it in the cranberry nut mixture until fully coated.

Goat Cheese Ball Recipe

These cheese ball is a fun spin on a classic cheese ball because not only is it a bit lighter but it is more of a sweet cheese ball than a savory one.  It is just a little sweet from the cranberry cinnamon goat cheese and then the cranberries on the outside amplify that flavor.  It will be a new favorite appetizer, trust me!

Some of my favorite things to serve with this are pretzel chips, crackers, crostini, bagel chips, apple slices, and pita chips.  All of these are simple to make or buy and serve.

Dessert Cheeseball

If there are any leftovers, you can just pop them in a container and put them in the fridge.  It can be eaten for a few days after you originally make it.  Additionally, you can make the cheese ball a day or two ahead of time.  I suggest waiting to roll it in the cranberries and nuts until right before serving so that those don’t get soggy.
